The lawsuit alleges that fintech company Intuit had poor consumer data privacy protections
Global fintech company Intuit was hit with a proposed class action lawsuit on Monday, alleging it failed to protect customer information from a data breach.
The class action proposal cause was filed by the Chicago-based law firm Strauss Borrelli in the Northern District Court of California, San Jose Division, and includes more than 100 class members. It accuses Intuit of actually causing a cyberattack that compromised its users’ personally identifiable information by circumventing cybersecurity industry standards, including NIST Cybersecurity FrameworkTHE Center for Internet Security Critical Security Controlsand the Federal Trade Commission guidelines for data security best practices. Plaintiffs seek compensatory damages, declaratory and injunctive relief.
