Nate Geraci on the outlook for digital asset ETFs
Nate Geraci and Kristin Myers
THE ETF.com Price 2024 It was a night of celebration for the ETF industry, recognizing the best and brightest in the business. Our Editor-in-Chief Kristin Myers had the chance to interview Nate Geraci, President of The ETF Store, about his long career in ETFs and his thoughts on the future of the industry.
Geraci, a self-described “big proponent” of ETFs for over 15 years, highlighted the accessibility, convenience and profitability that ETFs offer investors. He believes that these factors have “democratized investing” by opening up a wide range of investment strategies and asset classes to everyone.
Reflecting on his career, Geraci has observed a sea change in the ETF landscape. “When I started,” he said, “ETFs were like plucky newcomers.” Today, he notes with satisfaction, “the industry has succeeded. The industry is dominant.” This widespread adoption, while providing healthy competition, has not slowed down the innovation that has always been the hallmark of ETFs.
Looking ahead, Geraci identifies digital assets as the most fascinating area in the financial space. “Obviously we have Bitcoin spot ETFs in the market,” he said. “The hope is that we will have Ether spot ETFs at some point. But then I think it will grow from there.” Geraci believes digital asset ETFs will be the “next big thing” in the industry.
Although the “ETF of the Year” award can be considered the industry’s “best picture” award, Geraci expressed personal enthusiasm for two other categories. As presenter of the “Best New Active ETF”, he naturally has a vested interest in this award. But he was looking forward to the “Best New ETF Ticker.” “To me, it’s still a really fun category and it reflects innovation in the space.”
At the end of the evening, we announced that the ETF Education Provider of the Year award had gone to the ETF Institute. The ETF Institute is the first and only independent organization providing ETF industry professionals and financial advisors with exchange-traded fund certification, education and training. Nate Geraci is also co-founder of the ETF Institute and expressed his gratitude for recognition.
