MPS appoints new financial and operations directors | News, sports, jobs
MARSHALL – Marshall School Board members had the opportunity to meet two new district employees this week.
Tricia Stelter and Sarah Kirchner attended Monday’s school board meeting. Stelter will be MPS’ new chief operating officer effective July 1, and Kirchner will be the new chief financial officer effective July 8.
Earlier this spring, MPS Director of Business Services Dion Caron said he would step down. Due to the amount of work Caron was doing for the district, school board members approved splitting his position into two new ones.
Superintendent Jeremy Williams said Stelter is a familiar face at MPS.
“She previously worked in the district office for 18 years as the executive assistant to the superintendent,” he said. “She spent two years away from MPS, gaining a deeper understanding of the various operational functions within an organization, which makes her the perfect candidate for this role.”
Stelter will officially become MPS chief operating officer on July 1.
“I just want to take a moment and be grateful for the opportunity to return to Marshall Public Schools,” Stelter told the board. “For me, it really feels like I’m coming home.”
Williams also introduced Kirchner.
“Sarah served as fiscal manager for Southwest Health and Human Services for about seven years and then as CEO of Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care for about three years,” he said. “We are excited to have Sarah join our team and share her entire experience with us.”
“Thank you guys for having me, and I appreciate your confidence in my abilities to keep things running here from a financial standpoint,” Kirchner said.
She said she was looking forward to starting her duties.
