Meta hires former JPMorgan fintech AI head in London
Meta has gone to great lengths to hire AI talent in 2024, to the point of having Mark Zuckerberg personally email candidates. While Zuck’s personal messages appear to be confidential Google Deepmind employees, Meta is also hiring AI engineers from finance.

Onur Guzey has joined Meta in London as head of AI engineering and works on the core ads team. He has spent the last three years at JP Morganwhere he was responsible for machine learning engineering for the bank’s wealth management division.
Guzey’s background is that fintechespecially the high performance environment a OakNorth Bank. He joined the startup in 2017 as head of artificial intelligence, building its AI and data science divisions.
He’s not the only fintech alumnus Meta has taken a liking to in 2024. In March it hired Xiang Li, a staff engineer at CoinBase, even within the broader advertising team. His background is more traditional, with stints at Microsoft and Google.
