Kenya tax protests live: More protests expected after finance bill passes | News
People are taking stock of the violence that occurred here yesterday and overnight.
We are in front of the Parliament building where things are now calm. Traffic is flowing, cleanup is underway to fix and repair much of the damage that occurred.
Less than 24 hours ago here, in the same place, there were dead bodies and injured people. We now see a heavy police presence throughout central Nairobi, but the situation remains tense.
The medical association said 13 people were killed yesterday and overnight and predicted the number could rise. There are families who will look for the injured in the hospital, others will look in morgues to identify the dead.
During the night, a heavy police operation took place in the suburbs of Nairobi, densely populated by young people, against people returning to their homes after protesting in the center of the capital.
