Hindujas say no arrest of four family members – Industry News
The four Swiss members of the Hinduja Family, Kamal & Prakash Hinduja, Namrata and Ajay Hinduja, have not been subjected to any arrest, conviction, sentence or detention, a Hinduja family spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday evening.
The statement states that under Swiss law procedures, the lower court’s decision is “rendered ineffective and inoperative, since the presumption of innocence is fundamental until and unless a final decision of the highest adjudicating authority is enforced.” ”. The statement comes one day after a Swiss court handed down a stunning verdict for the family whose fortune is estimated at $47 billion.
The most serious of the charges, human trafficking, against them was completely dismissed by the court on Friday. The Hindujas say the case has no more complainants and stated in court that they were tricked into signing statements that they did not even understand. They neither intended nor initiated such processes.
