Inverness-based investment group GEG Capital has acquired a stake in architecture firm Bracewell Stirling Consulting.

The addition of this award-winning consultancy will strengthen GEG Capital’s existing portfolio of planning, design, environmental and construction capabilities across Scotland and the UK.

Also specializing in the energy and sustainability sector, the Bracewell Stirling team is experienced in analyzing energy efficiency scenarios, with certified in-house energy assessors, including Passivhaus accreditation.

Director of GEG Capital Jia MacKenzie said: “We are delighted to bring Bracewell Stirling Consulting under the GEG Capital umbrella. As a strategic partner, GEG Capital will provide a range of support services including HR, marketing, IT, legal advice, accounting, insurance and cost control.

“The daily operations and future development of the practice will remain independently managed by current Bracewell leadership personnel – David Keith It is Amanda MacRitchie.

“Bracewell Stirling not only has an excellent reputation and culture that aligns with ours, but also brings extensive experience in designing housing developments and commercial projects to the group. This capability, supported by the GEG Capital management team, will present numerous opportunities for business growth.”

Speaking about becoming part of GEG Capital, David Keith, senior partner at Bracewell Stirling for 33 years, said: “As we enter Bracewell’s 100th year in business, the team and I are looking forward to an exciting new chapter in the company’s history.

With GEG Capital’s strategic investment in place to facilitate a new vision for the future, we will continue to serve our existing clients and look forward to expanding our networks.

“Building on existing relationships with companies like Capstone Construction, we hope to benefit from the synergies and strategic relationships that will be created with other portfolio companies that will generate new workflows, with access to engineering, ecology and planning services.”

Commenting on Bracewell’s growth strategy, Amanda MacRitchie, senior partner at Bracewell Stirling for 23 years, added: “With people at the heart of our business, the cultural fit with GEG Capital is excellent, offering opportunities for further professional development and personnel to the team.

“Additionally, as we continue to grow, we anticipate creating multiple new roles to strengthen our already successful team.

“Bracewell Stirling aims to expand the commercial side of the business and has already called on the expertise of senior architect David Lawrie to drive this forward, who in previous roles has led projects such as the Scapa Flow and Gairloch museums.”
