Full Swing Financial Planning is the new sponsor of Closest to Pin | News, Sports, Jobs
Full Swing Financial Planning of Fort Dodge felt right at home as the new sponsor of the “closest to the pin” contest for this weekend’s Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Webster County golf tournament.
The local business, established in December, has deep ties to both the sport and this event. Three members of the team — co-CEO and financial advisor Kole Petersen, co-CEO and financial advisor Cole Jaeschke and financial planner Eddie Doyle — are longtime golfers and regular competitors in county tournaments.
“It was a natural fit for a lot of obvious reasons,” said Petersen, a 1998 Fort Dodge Senior High graduate. “In addition to being heavily invested in golf and this tournament in particular, we are locally owned and operated. We all grew up in the area, do business in the area and are raising families in the area.”
“It means a lot to us to be a part of this. We are very proud and honored to have our name involved with this.”
The closest-to-the-pin competition takes place on Saturday at both courses. There will be $100 winners on each of the par-3 holes for the men and women at their respective courses.
“We’re big supporters of The Messenger and everything they do,” Petersen said. “I think it’s great that so many local people play and that companies are still involved after more than four decades (of tournaments).
“We just want our community to think of us for their family finances, when planning for their retirement and all their investment and insurance needs. We’re here to build trust in the Fort Dodge area. We probably do 90 percent of our business within a 30-mile radius.”
Jaeschke, who graduated from Prairie Valley High School in Gowrie, is the tournament’s defending champion. Doyle — a St. Edmond graduate — was a winner in 2017 and 2022. Petersen has been at or near the top of the final leaderboard multiple times.
Chief Operating Officer and Financial Advisor Baileigh Ashbrook, Emily Cue and Alexa Leadley also work at Full Swing Financial, located at 1725 1st Ave. S. in Fort Dodge.
This year’s event is just days away. Players must register for the 44th annual event by Wednesday.
The tournament starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday.
Groups are invited to register by phone or in person at their respective designated courses. Players must pay in advance.
For the first time, a “Legends” Division is being offered on both the men’s and women’s sides for players age 70 and older. This will flank the traditional Open, Senior (ages 50-59) and Super Senior (ages 60-69) Championship brackets for 36-hole individual play at Fort Dodge Country Club and Lakeside Golf Courses.
The women’s competition will also feature a new two-person best-shot tournament on Saturday at Lakeside. This is an alternative to the individual bracket, which is still being offered. Players would choose which event — the 36-hole individual tournament or the 18-hole best-shot tournament — to enter in advance.
