FinTech LIVE Dubai – Mastercard Keynote Presentation
Addressing biases in artificial intelligence
Amnah highlights the collective responsibility to ensure technology advances in an inclusive way, sharing a personal experience of using AI image generation to highlight the importance of equitable representation in technology.
He also discusses the need to train AI models to avoid replicating historical bias data and the need for continued research and leadership efforts to correct bias in AI.
The social impact of technology and privacy concerns
Reflecting on how technology influences social behaviors – for example, making the world more connected and more isolated – he shares statistics on the impact of social media and technology on children and society.
It also discusses the impact of privacy and cybersecurity on children in particular, highlighting the challenges parents face in protecting their children in a digital world.
“Technology has made us very social, but has it also made us antisocial? […] Most children spend around 75% of their lives with their eyes fixed on a screen,” says Amnah.
The role of leadership
When it comes to making technology human-centric, leadership is vital. Amnah advises companies to focus on customer problems and prioritize significant issues for better market expansion and maintaining a competitive advantage. He also highlights the importance of surrounding yourself with talented people and staying up to date with technological advances.
“We need to learn to surround ourselves with people who are talented, smarter than us and better than us because with so much happening around technology, it’s impossible to keep up with everything,” Amnah says.
