Financial Aid Update
Deadline extended for some members of the class of 2028

Christopher Newport is taking additional steps to help first-year students seeking an affordable, excellence-based education.
The Office of Admissions is extending the May 1 enrollment verification deadline by two weeks for first-year students who have submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Submitting a FAFSA is an essential first step toward receiving financial aid and scholarships.
The U.S. Department of Education announced a delay in delivering FAFSA results to institutions until March.
Financial aid offers for new students enrolling in fall 2024 are estimated to be available in early April for those who have completed the 2024-25 FAFSA. Notification of financial aid awards will be emailed to students with instructions for viewing and accepting aid through a personalized online portal.
In order to provide sufficient time for families to review financial aid offers and finalize enrollment decisions, the Office of Admissions has extended the $500 tuition deposit deadline from May 1 to May 15 for all students who submitted a FAFSA. Additional extensions will be granted for those who experience further delays in processing their financial aid. Continuing students must also renew their FAFSA each year. CNU’s priority date for completing the FAFSA for the 2024-25 academic year is March 1.
