Facebook CEO who left for Grab in Singapore returns home
It seems that in recent months there has been a competitive tug-of-war for talent between finance and big tech. David Baser joined Meta this week after three and a half years at the payments super-app Prey. Initially left Menlo Park for Singapore join as Preyhead of enterprise ecosystem technology, but has stepped aside and been serving as an advisor within that team for the past nine months. He will be working in product at Meta, working on the “future of computing infrastructure.”
Baser spent 10 years at (then) Facebook, nine of them as director of product management. Previously, she was the product manager for Facebook Pages before leading the privacy and data use team.
Other Meta alumni who have already left for finance are making moves but staying in the industry. Mike Dimond, former head of trust and safety learning operations at Meta, left for American Express in May 2023. He joined JPMorgan last month as his head of artificial intelligence and data learning.
