ETFGI reports that globally listed crypto ETFs and ETPs gathered net inflows of $2.23 billion in May

LONDON —June 26, 2024— ETFGI, a leading independent research and advisory firm covering trends in the global ETF ecosystem, reports that globally listed crypto ETFs and ETPs garnered net inflows of US$2.23 billion in May, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$44.50 billion, well above the US$135.57 million at this point last year, according to ETFGI’s May 2024 Crypto ETF and ETP Industry Landscape Report, the monthly report that is part of an annual paid research subscription service. (All dollar values are in USD unless otherwise noted.)

“The S&P 500 Index rose 4.96% in May and is up 11.30% year-to-date in 2024. Developed markets, excluding the U.S. index, have risen by 3.62% in May and are up 6.09% year to date in 2024. Norway (up 10.84%) and Portugal (up 8.72%) have recorded the largest increases among developed markets in May. The emerging markets index rose 1.17% in May and is up 4.97% year-to-date in 2024. Global crypto ETF and ETP asset growth as of end-May
The global crypto ETF and ETP industry had 208 products, with 551 listings, assets of $82.27 billion, from 47 providers listed on 20 exchanges in 16 countries. Following net inflows of $2.23 billion and market movements during the month, assets invested in globally listed crypto ETFs/ETPs increased by 16.7% from $70.47 billion at the end April 2024 to $82.27 billion at the end of May 2024.
Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs/ETPs in terms of net new assets, which collectively gathered $3.11 billion in May. iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT US) collected $1.17 billion, the largest individual net inflow.
