BPI appoints new financial director
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — The Building Performance Institute (BPI), a building performance accreditation, quality assurance and standards-setting organization, has hired Gilbert Yanez as its chief financial officer.
Yanez has 18 years of financial management experience in nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he served as vice president of finance for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and as controller of the Symphony Society of San Antonio.
Previously, he held various positions at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. At YMCA, he specialized in full-cycle accounting, oversaw all accounting functions, managed reconciliations, performed budget analysis, and coordinated annual audits.
“Gilbert Yanez’s deep experience is extremely valuable to BPI,” BPI CEO Larry Zarker said in a press release. “We are proud to bring him on board and look forward to continuing our 31-year tradition of serving stakeholders and the industry with his help.”
Yanez holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is a certified public accountant candidate. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing pickleball and disc golf and maintains an active cardiovascular and strength training routine, the release states.
