Biden touts falling inflation, slams Trump’s tariffs at news conference
President Joe Biden on Thursday he announced the latest inflation report in opening remarks at his highly anticipated solo press conference in Washington.
“Just this morning, we had a great economic report showing that inflation has fallen,” he said. “Overall, prices have fallen over the past month. Core inflation is the lowest it’s been in three years.”
O Consumer Price Index fell 0.1% in June from May, the U.S. Labor Department reported Thursday morning. It’s the first time the monthly inflation rate decreased by more than four years.
“Prices are falling for cars, appliances and airline tickets. Grocery prices have fallen since the beginning of the year,” the president said. “We will continue to work to eliminate corporate greed to drive these prices down even further.”
Biden then criticized the former president Donald Trumpthe economic policy proposed by ‘s, which includes a Base rate of 10% on all US imports.
