Best Places to Work in Fintech 2024
Fintechs are slowly recovering from 2023, when a number of companies layoffs announced.
Despite the challenges, some fintech companies still manage to provide employees with a welcoming work environment, a comprehensive benefits package and frequent and transparent communication.
This year, 40 companies made American Banker’s annual list of the Best Places to Work in Fintech. Winners range in size, from small businesses (three winners have fewer than two dozen employees) to corporations with hundreds of employees.
The ranking was drawn up in collaboration with the Best Companies Group and involves a two-stage selection process. In the first part, candidates completed an in-depth survey regarding their policies and the benefits they offer to workers. For example, nearly all winners provided employees with a 401(k), 403(b), or 457 retirement plan, compared to only 88% of fintechs that didn’t make the list. Over two-thirds of the fintech companies on this year’s list gave workers paid time off to volunteer. Only 44% of companies that applied and didn’t make the cut offered it as a benefit.
In the second part, employees completed an engagement and satisfaction survey that included dozens of suggestions on topics such as leadership, work environment and relationship with their supervisor. In these responses, winners generally outperformed candidates who didn’t make the cut. For example, 93% of workers at fintech companies on this year’s list said they had confidence in the organization’s leadership, compared to 82% of those at companies that failed to do so. Only 82% of employees at fintech companies that didn’t qualify for the ranking said company communications were frequent enough, compared to 93% of workers at winners.
