Best Performing Leveraged/Inverse ETFs: 06/30/2024

Here are the top-performing leveraged and inverse ETFs from last week. Note that because of leverage, these types of funds can move quickly. Always do your homework.

1. TSLL – ETF Direxion Daily TSLA Bull 1.5X Shares

TSLL, which offers 1.5x leveraged exposure to the daily price movement of Tesla shares, tops the list of best-performing leveraged ETFs with a return of over ~16% last week on the tech rally and anticipated rate cuts.

2. DPST – Direxion Daily Regional banks increase their shares 3X

DPST, which offers 3x leveraged exposure to an index of U.S. regional banking stocks, was one of the best-performing leveraged ETFs as major U.S. banks passed the Federal Reserve’s stress test, demonstrating their financial strength. This led them to announce higher payouts to shareholders in the form of increased dividends for the third quarter.

3. KOLD – ProShares UltraShort Bloomberg Natural Gas

KOLD, which offers 2x inverse leveraged daily exposure to natural gas, was one of the contenders on the list of top-performing leveraged/inverse ETFs with a return of about 15% last week as natural gas prices struggled due to high inventories.

4. CARU – 3X MAX Leveraged ETN for the Automotive Industry

CARU is an ETN that tracks 3x the daily price movements of an index of U.S.-listed auto companies. The ETN has gotten a boost with weekly returns of about 13% as electric vehicle stocks surge, with Volkswagen committing $5 billion to an EV software joint venture.

5. TSL – GraniteShares 1.25x Long Tesla Daily ETF

TSL, which offers 1.25x leveraged exposure to Tesla’s daily share price movement, was another Tesla-focused fund on the list of top-performing leveraged ETFs, returning around 10% last week.

6. NRGU – MicroSectors US Big Oil Index 3X Leveraged ETN

NRGU, which tracks the performance of an index of U.S. oil and gas companies three times, was among the top-performing leveraged/inverse ETFs in the week, returning more than 7%, as oil gained on concerns about the Middle East and expectations of a U.S. Fed rate cut.

7. TTT – ProShares UltraPro Short Treasury 20+ Years Maturity

ProShares UltraPro Short 20+ Year Treasury also entered the list of top-performing inverse ETFs, with the Treasury yield rising from 4.48% to 4.71% over the past five days.

8. WTIU – MicroSectors Energy 3X Leveraged ETN

WTIU, an exchange-traded security that tracks the daily price movements of an index of U.S.-listed energy and oil companies 3x, was another strong-performing leveraged ETF last week, with oil, gas and consumable fuels gaining more than 0.06% over the past five days.

9. TMV – Actions Direxion Daily 20+ Year Treasury Bear 3x

TMV, which offers 3x short leveraged exposure to the NYSE 20-Year Plus Treasury Bond Index, was added to the list as the 20-year bond yield rose to 4.71% from 4.48% a week earlier.

10. OILU – MicroSectors Oil & Gas Exp. & Prod. 3x Leveraged ETN

OILU, which offers 3x leveraged daily exposure to a level-weighted index of U.S. companies involved in oil and gas exploration and production, entered the list with weekly gains of about 7%. The oil, gas and consumable fuels segment gained about 0.06% over the past five days. Oil prices have been rising on Middle East tensions and upcoming rate cuts.
