Argentine Fintech Tapi Raises $22M
Tapi, an Argentine payment processing company, sets its sights on the Mexican market after securing a $22 million financing round.
According to Bloomberg, the Series A round was led by Kaszek, who was joined by Andreessen Horowitz, which led the 2022 qualifying round.
Tapi processes fintech payments in five countries for big names like Mercado Pago and cryptocurrency exchange Lemon. The company expects to process about $400 million this year, four times the amount it handled in 2023.
CEO Tomas Mindlin told Bloomberg that he expects Mexico to become Tapi’s fastest-growing market in the near term.
Mindlin says: “We will partner with fintechs that will grow the most, continue to promote financial inclusion and transform cash payments into digital payments, so Mexico is very important to us.
“I would say that in a year 80% of the Mexican banking population will be working with our infrastructure.”
